This manual is intended to support educators (whether teachers, parents, relatives or child-care workers) with peace building and sustainability education, and to promote multicultural dialogue. It can be used to inspire children towards peaceful and sustainable actions in their everyday lives.

The notion sustainability has become central in approaches to development; indeed, sustainable development is the only way that societies can improve living standards while ensuring that the environment is protected and that the prospects for future generations are not jeopardised. This manual was designed to be used in teacher training, with the aim of improving teachers' knowledge of sustainability and equip them with skills to teach students about sustainbility.

This manual is designed for teachers wanting to give their students an introduction to sustainability. It takes the approach that Education for Sustainability (EFS) should empower student to be active citizens in the transformation of their societies into sustainable ones. While it includes a selection of worksheets, this manual is primarily intended to support teachers in their lessons planning and to think about different ways of teaching.
