Welcome to the SPREP Information & Knowledge Management Centre (IKMC)
The SPREP Library system is a specialised environmental information service that supports SPREP staff, programmes, projects and member countries. It serves as a unique regional repository of publications and scientific and technical reports produced by SPREP, its member countries, partners and stakeholders. The IKMC ensures that high-quality environmental knowledge is collected, preserved, and made accessible to support informed decision-making and capacity building across the Pacific Islands region.
Our Aim
- To collect, store and disseminate scientific and technical information on environmental and development issues affecting Pacific island countries and territories.
- To liaise and collaborate with national, regional and international organisations to circulate relevant information and publications across the region.
- To support SPREP projects and programmes by providing targeted information to specific groups within the region.
- To provide technical assistance and advice on information and knowledge management to SPREP projects and programmes
Our Mandate
To achieve excellence in the collection, preservation, management and retrieval of environmental information and knowledge ensuring the research, learning, and information needs of SPREP staff and member countries are effectively met.
Our Collection
The SPREP library hosts:
- Over 17,000 environmental monographs and pieces of grey literature.
- Access to more than 47,000 bibliographic records covering 21 Pacific island states and territories.
- Over 7000 full-text records available for immediate download.
- Approximately 4,000 SPREP and partner publications accessible through the Virtual Library.
These collections support environmental research, policy development, education and regional cooperation.
