The Third Ordinary Meeting of the Contracting Parties to the convention on conservation of Nature in the south pacific (apia Convention) was convened in Apra. Western Samoa, on 5 october 1995. Representatives of the following contracting parties attended: Australia. Fiji. France and western Samoa. Other SPREP members represented were New Zealand. United States of America nad Vanuatu. Also in attendance were observers from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). A list of participants is at Annex I.

This report is the Project Preparation Document (PPD) for the proposed Huvalu Forest Conservation Area. The primary objective of the PPD is to lay out the design for a project that conserves the biodiversity of the Huvalu forest through the development of village managed activities founded upon sustainable resource exploitation practices. A long term aim is to develop participatory planning and management skills at the village level so that project sustainability can be assured after SPBCP involvement ends.

This report is the Project Preparation Document for the proposed Uafato Conservation Area Project, in north-eastern Upolu. The primary objective of the PPD is to lay out the design for a project that conserves the unique biodiversity of the Uafato area. A secondary objective is to assist Uafato villagers to develop regimes for the sustainable management of local resources, especially the resources potentially threatened by over-utilisation, such as the forest timber resources.

This report is the Project Preparation Document (PPD) for the proposed Funafuti Marine Conservation Area. The primary objective of the PPD is to lay out the design for a project that conserves a representative sample of the marine and terrestrial biodiversity typical of Funafuti atoll, and of Tuvalu as a whole. A long term objective is to develop regimes for the sustainable management of the inshore fisheries resource, a resource currently threatened by over-utilisation.
