Much of the damage done on tress is caused by selective logging which conducts logging practices that uses logs for sale and commercial use. A lot of concerns on a selective logging for forests without any control, either way the trees are damaged in any way of half a hectare or land are being logged. The forest has a potential to regenerate but not after over exhausting the land and trees. The South Pacific sea level and climate monitoring project is joint initiative of South Pacific forum countries, which aims to understand the scale and implication of sea level and changing climate.
