Action Strategy Reporting: The reporting for the Action Strategy for Nature Conservation in the Pacific Islands Region 2008 – 2012 was discussed and it was decided that reporting will be done under the four objectives of the Action Strategy. The roundtable working groups will be reporting their activities under the relevant objectives annually and a consolidation report at the conference. Working groups are will be approached to decide on which objectives that best link to their work and the following were recommended.

The Fiji Multi-Country Office’s MDG-related support to the PICs took different forms, but most prominent among these has been the technical assistance provided to support the nine countries prepare and produce their first MDG Progress Reports. Beyond the production of the nine MDG country reports, the technical assistance also envisaged the processes of preparation of MDG reports to yield several additional benefits, both tangible and intangible. All nine countries covered by the Fiji MCO have now produced their respective MDG reports.

This report provides PPAC with an update of progress made in implementing the Pacific Plan over 2009. It builds on the information provided in the 2009 six month report tabled at the 31 March – 1 April Pacific Plan Action Committee (PPAC) meeting. As with previous years, this report provides a higher strategic level assessment for Forum Leaders’ consideration through the PPAC and more specifically highlights key achievements and issues of note requiring attention and action.
