This video was developed as part of an awareness campaign, focuses on the environmental challenges faced by the island nation. The video highlights three key objectives: protecting Niue's freshwater supply, preventing harmful agricultural practices, and safeguarding the island's coral reefs. It was developed by SPREP to raise awareness about these issues and the need for action to protect the environment of Niue.

In October 1995 the 8th Pacific Regional Environment Programme meeting endorsed a proposal to prepare a Strategic Action Programme for International Waters. At the request of the South Pacific Forum the development of the proposal was coordinated by the South Pacific Regional Environment Programme (renamed the Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme, or SRPEP). Throughout 1997 the Strategic Action Programme was formulated with funding assistance provided by the Global Environment Facility (GEF).

Environmental issues have a high priority. The people of Nine have taken positive action to maintain the environment for future generations. The low population density has allowed large areas of the island's interior to remain as natural forests and this natural state has become a tourist attraction along with the exotic coral formations, caves and other natural attractions of the island. In general water quality and air quality are very good. Periods of drought occur that can cause loss of crops and hardship for residents.
