The Pacific Meteorological Council (PMC) is a specialised subsidiary body of SPREP, established at the Fourteenth Regional Meteorological Services Directors (RMSD) meeting in Majuro, Marshall Islands in August 2011 to facilitate and coordinate the scientific and technical programmes and activities of the RMSD meeting. The PMC replaces the Regional Meteorological Services Directors body and provides policy relevant advice to the SPREP Meeting on the needs and priorities of its member countries and territories in relation to meteorology of weather and climate and related fields. The PMC normally meets on a biannual basis.

Extinction Risk Analyses for Sea Turtles in the Pacific Region

This report addresses risks to extinction for sea turtle populations in the Pacific, specifically for countries and island territories within the SPREP region. The extinction risk analysis has been made based on modeled scenarios given much of the region suffers from data uncertainty in terms of biological attributes of sea turtle populations.

Coral reefs are increasingly threatened by a range of human-induced stressors from anthropogenic local drivers of loss including overfishing, pollution, and coastal development to regional stressors such as climate change and ocean acidification. These stressors lead to multiple changes in coral reef structure, function and composition, threatening the well-being, livelihoods and cultural identify of the millions of people who rely on them worldwide.

The objective of an Integrated Ecosystem Management Plan process is to generate a robust planning baseline to inform the identification of ecosystem-based adaptation (EbA) options for strengthening the socio-ecological resilience of communities to the impacts of climate change and other direct anthropogenic impacts. The purpose of this report is to provide a comprehensive overview of Phase 2a and 2b activities that contribute towards the ESRAM for Wiawi (on Malekula Island), with other reports providing similar overviews for the communities of Laone (Pentecost Island) and Tenmaru and South West Bay (on Malekula Island) (see Figure 1). As such this report provides a: 1. Synthesis of data and lines of evidence for Wiawi extracted from the main report. 2. Detailed options assessments specific to Wiawi. 3. Implementation considerations.
