This document presents the highlights of the JPRISM II activities conducted in Palau during the project period (2017-2022) including the national and regional outputs of the project.

Despite the tourism industry and compact assistance, Palau is exceptionally vulnerable to natural disasters and its narrow economic base expose it to international market volatility.

Palau is an island country consisting of 16 states and 4 main islands - Angaur, Babeldaob, Peleliu and Koror. It has a combined land area of 489km2 and an oceanic area (exclusive economic zone) of 600,000km2.

This design document describes the framework for Palau's activities under Output 3 "Scale up resilient development measures in specific sectors"of the Global Climate Change Alliance Plus - Scaling Up Pacific Adaptation (GCCA+SUPA) project.

Governance over waste issues in Palau is shared between the national government and state governments. State governments have the primary responsibility for waste management. The national government administers the general environmental protection law relating to pollution control and has responsibility for infrastructure planning and public awareness relating to the issue of solid waste.
