There is a large degree if difference in household (HH) income in Chuuk when compared with the three other states of the Federated States of Micronesia.

Agriculture is extremely important for the livehoods of households (HH) across the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM). This factsheet aims to improve understanding of how agriculture contributes to sustainable livelihoods and food security.

The FSM most recent household income and expenditure survey (HIES) was

60% of the total expenditure is dedicated to food in Chuuk. 40% of the households on Pohnpei consume Sakau (which is the main non food items consumed). 55% of the value of the food consumed in Yap is home-produced. 82% of the households in Chuuk have a total expenditure below the national average.

These guidelines are intended for the attention of maritime, labour and fisheries ministries and any other relevant government ministry as and when it is decided to implement.

This is part of a boarder strategic initiative between these agencies to harmonise their efforts and to bring about greater efficiencies in the provision of particularly "Disaster Management" (preparedness, response, early recovery) capacity building support to Pacific island countries and territories for the future.

A priority for Small Island Developing States (SIDS) is effective planning and financing of actions to address the impacts of climate change. This paper examines the vital role that regional institutions play in sharing SIDS relevant approaches and knowledge, and in delivering specialist skills and knowledge to support national efforts. It goes on to highlight the work of the Climate Resilient Islands Partnership, which links the Caribbean, Indian Ocean and Pacific Regions, and is working to rapidly scale-up cost-effective services to SIDS through inter-regional cooperation and exchange.
