The solomon islands ministry of fisheries and marine resources (MFMR) has prepared this discussion document for consultation with coastal communities and all other individuals and organisations that have an interest in coastal and inshore fisheries. This discussion document is about our new coastal community strategy but also looks at the changes needed to fisheries and marine legislation, policy, institutions and governance arrangements. Without these changes the success of our coastal community strategy will be limited, as will our ability to meaningfully support coastal communities.
