The Niue Waste Analysis Report provides a comprehensive overview of the current state of waste generation, composition and management across the country. It serves as a foundational document to guide policy, formulation, infrastructure development, and stakeholder coordination toward a more efficient, inclusive and sustainable waste management system. Data and information captured in this report is guided by the overarching Regional Waste Data Colletion, Monitoring and Reporting Framework (DCMR)

There is no specific waste management legislation in place for Niue, but there are a combination of laws and waste management protocols. The Environment Act 2015 sets out several waste-related activities that require development consent including landfills, recycling or collection stations, drainage or disposal systems, wastewater and sanitation schemes, and human waste disposal systems.
