The MiCOAST GEDSI Voyage Strategy Handbook outlines a collaborative approach to integrating Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) principles into the MiCOAST project. The strategy highlights key principles such as systems-level thinking, local and indigenous knowledge integration, and fostering inclusivity through evidence-based learning and innovation. Designed as an evolving resource, the handbook provides a framework to enable partners to implement GEDSI effectively into their Community Based Fisheries Management (CBFM) projects.

This webinar on “Coastal ecosystem restoration for climate adaptation in the Pacific” was organised as part of SPREP Technical Assistance programme under the Kiwa Initiative. It is the first of a series of learning events to provide a space where Kiwa projects and partners can share their experience, challenges, expectations and further strengthen our knowledge and capacities on coastal restoration for climate resilience. This webinar introduced and highlighted different aspects, issues and strategies when planning, designing or implementing a coastal restoration project or activity, hearing from Pacific experts and practitioners.

In September, the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) was active and north of the Date Line, and a well-defined South Pacific Convergence Zone (SPCZ) extended east-southeast from PNG to the northern Cook Islands in the southern hemisphere

The 3-month rainfall status for June to August 2024 was Very Wet or Seriously Wet over Palau, much of the PNG Islands and the north of the mainland, most of Solomon Islands, central Tuvalu, Tokelau, southern Phoenix Is., in parts of the northern and central Cook Islands, plus scattered small patches in FSM, RMI, the Line Is., and French Polynesia.

The 3-month rainfall status for May to July 2024 was Very Wet or Seriously Wet over Palau, southwest FSM, much of PNG, most of Solomon Islands, far northern Fiji, central and southern Tuvalu, Tokelau, northeast Wallis and Futuna, and Samoa. Patches of Very Wet or Seriously Wet were also observed in American Samoa, Kiribati (far northern Line Is.), northern and central Cook Islands, and central RMI.

The 3-month rainfall status for April to June 2024 was Very Wet or Seriously Wet over southern Palau, southwest FSM, most of PNG, most of Solomon Islands, far northern Fiji, western and southern Tuvalu, Tokelau, northeast Wallis and Futuna, patches in both Samoa and American Samoa, northern Cook Islands, far northern and southern Line Islands, and northern French Polynesia.

Elle repose sur 108 images satellites de 2000 à 2023 autour des tribus de Konoyes-Shaoué, Ouérou-Pimé et Méchin. Les 1 014 feux recensés ont brûlé 3 281 hectares. The analysis of the fire regime in the upper Kouaoua Valley is part of the Pacific Ecosystem-based Adaptation to Climate Change (PEBACC+) plus project demonstration efforts. The analysis is based on 108 satellite images from 2000 to 2023 around the tribes of Konoyes-Shaoué, Ouérou-Pimé and Méchin. The 1,014 fires recorded burned 3,281 hectares of land.
