Anyone who has been lucky enough to travel the calm islands of the Pacific Ocean, especially those in the north-east where an almighty hand randomly scattered a number of islands of all sizes in the choppy sea, is seldom to have approached one of these without having sighted several canoes, resting by the reef or drifting with the current, carrying Islanders on the hunt for their 'daily bread'.
