Message from the European Union - Pierre-Henri Hellepute, Chef de Bureau de l’Union Européenne pour les Pays et Territoires d’Outre-Mer du Pacifique, présente les objectifs du programme PROTEGE, qui vise à appuyer les territoires d’outre-mer du Pacifique pour mettre en place des économies plus résilientes face à la problématique du changement climatique. Il souligne la contribution de la lutte contre les espèces envahissantes pour la protection de la biodiversité. Pierre-Henri Hellepute, Head of the European Union Office for the Pacific Overseas Countries and Territories, presents the objectives of the PROTEGE program, which aims to support Pacific overseas territories in building more resilient economies in the face of climate change. It highlights the contribution of the fight against invasive species to the protection of biodiversity.

This webinar provided an overview on the PRISMSS five regional programmes, and introduced the Resilient Ecosystems Resilient Communities approach - priority area and ecological restoration,. In this session, David Moverley, technical lead for PRISMSS RERC programme talks about the processes involved in restoring ecosystems and their services at high valued ecological sites, as well as managing multiple types of invasive species. 27 May 2022 - Invasive weeds are a serious problem we need to deal with in the Pacific if we need to build community resilience to climate change. In this video, we showcase the impacts of Tamaligi during natural disasters and extreme weather events in Samoa, as well as devil's ivy (taro vine) on the forest ecosystems of Niue, highlighting the linkage between invasive species management and building climate resilience in the Pacific.
