The Report highlights recent successes in the area of climate services including the roles National Climate Outlook forums have had in building stronger relationships between the users of climate services and our National Meteorological Services, while Regional Climate Outlook forums have contributed much to building stronger collaborations among services users and climatologists across the Pacific.

In this report only immediate policy issues related to disaster risk reduction and disaster management that need to be tackled specifically in relation to the flooding in the sugar belt are highlighted4. Two categories of recommendations are relevant in this context of flooding in the sugar belt area - those that need to be addressed by the Government of Fiji within its disaster risk management context, and those that are of direct relevance to the Fiji sugar industry.
