The low-lying atolls of Ontong Java have been identified as particularly vulnerable to climate change. Remote from the countrys urban centres, their fragile food systems are threatened by sea level rise, high tides, and extreme climate events. These atolls were therefore selected as the site for a pilot project under the Pacific Adaptation to Climate Change (PACC) programme.
