Ice cores are an excellent source of information on past global climates and atmospheric composition. Antarctic ice cores indicate low concentrations of C02 and methane during glacial periods and high concentrations during interglacials. Greenhouse gas changes correlate closely with temperature changes. This suggests greenhouse gases have an important role in changes in global temperature.
