This study explores the potential of polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHA) processing in Samoa as a sustainable pathway for waste management and economic development. With increasing global concerns over plastic pollution and the urgent need for sustainable alternatives, PHA emerges as a promising biodegradable polymer. Samoa, like many other small island nations, faces challenges in waste management and environmental conservation.

This Roadmap outlines strategies and plans to improve plastic circularity in Tonga. The Roadmap is based on scientific, social and economic literature review and developed through an inclusi8ve approach, involving public consultations to establish the guiding principles and mechanisms of a circular for Tonga.

A review of existing guidelines and current practices is a supporting document to the Responsible Marine Wildlife Viewing Guidelines). Specifically tailored to the Pacific region, the guidelines provide detailed information on how to conduct responsible viewing and ‘swim with’ experiences with whales, dolphins, dugongs, sharks, rays, turtles and seabirds.

En 2024, le territoire de Wallis et Futuna a créé sa liste préventive des espèces envahissantes qui répertorie les espèces envahissantes absentes du Territoire mais présentes dans la région et dont il souhaite se préserver. Cette liste compte 123 espèces (60 plantes et 63 animaux) dont l'importation est interdite, et classe les espèces en fonction de leur niveau de risque. Cette vidéo de sensibilisation présente des recommandations relatives aux espèces figurant sur la liste préventive, à destination du grand public.

En 2024, le territoire de Wallis et Futuna a actualisé sa liste noire des espèces envahissantes en priorisant les espèces ayant un impact sur les habitats clés et en supprimant celles ayant des impacts réduits aux zones dégradées. La liste concerne désormais 68 espèces – 38 espèces végétales et 30 espèces animales. Cette vidéo de sensibilisation présente des recommandations relatives aux espèces figurant sur la liste noire, à destination du grand public.

The MiCOAST GEDSI Voyage Strategy Handbook outlines a collaborative approach to integrating Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) principles into the MiCOAST project. The strategy highlights key principles such as systems-level thinking, local and indigenous knowledge integration, and fostering inclusivity through evidence-based learning and innovation. Designed as an evolving resource, the handbook provides a framework to enable partners to implement GEDSI effectively into their Community Based Fisheries Management (CBFM) projects.

Additionally, the document offers practical tips for composting in various settings, from small urban gardens to larger community plots, and highlights the positive impacts on soil health and local ecosystems. This publication serves as a valuable tool for individuals and communities aiming to reduce waste, enhance soil fertility, and contribute to environmental sustainability in the Pacific region.

The El Niño–Southern Oscillation (ENSO) remains neutral, with sea surface temperatures (SSTs) in the central equatorial Pacific Ocean at ENSO-neutral levels. Atmospheric indices, such as those related to patterns of surface pressure, cloud and trade winds, are broadly consistent with an ENSO-neutral state.
