The Tonga Waste Analysis Report provides a overview of the current state of waste generation, composition and management across the country. It serves as a foundational document to guide policy formulation, infrastructure development, and stakeholder coordination toward a more efficient, inclusive and sustainable waste management system. Data and information captured in this report is guided by the overarching Regional Waste Data Collection, Monitoring and Reporting Framework (DCMR)

The following radio spots in Tonga address the proper and safe way to address potential asbestos containing materials in the home, school and workplace, recommend the elimination of the purchase/acquisition by local stores of asbestos containing materials and discuss the efforts to ban asbestos importation into to Tonga. These radios spots are aimed at raising awareness in a fun and memorable way and encourage listeners to understand and properly handle these materials in their environment. These radio spots are part of a broader effort to promote awareness on both issues in Tonga.

PacWastePlus assisted the Government of Tonga to improve asbestos management through both abatement activities and the development and adoption of an Asbestos management Code of Practice. This video summarises activities completed.

This paper is a further contribution to the naturalised flora of Tonga in documenting 19 species newly recognised from the archipelago. These 19 species are treated as the single broad category of naturalised whereby they form a wild population(s) self-maintained by seed or vegetative reproduction (following Webb et al. 1988).

Pacific island countries and territories offer rich ecosystems that are threatened by population and urbanisation growth and changing consumption patterns leading to increased waste generation. The SWAP project assists six beneficiary countries and territories, those being: Fiji, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Vanuatu and Wallis and Futuna, in implementing sustainable waste management actions.
