The basic idea behind Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Degradation (REDD) is simple: Countries that are willing and able to reduce emissions from deforestation should be financially compensated for doing so6. Previous approaches to curb global deforestation have so far been unsuccessful, however, and REDD provides a new framework to allow deforesting countries to break this historical trend.

This policy provides the framework for the conservation, preservation, use, allocation and sustainable management of heritage resources. It also seeks to improve approaches to heritage planning by ensuring that the preservation of our natural and cultural heritage are fully recognized and taken into account in the formulation and implementation of development programs.
