Kiribati Integrated Environment Policy (KIEP) and Strategic Environment Plan (SEP) 2021 - 2036
Environmental Governance
Available Online
2022
The KIEP 2021-2036 continues our drive away from the old sector-based approaches and towards more integrated, "source-to-sea" and "island-to-island" approach to environmental management; mainstreaming all of the principles of ecological sustainability; ensuring greater equity in the sharing of environmental benefits, resurrecting, resorting and applying the ancient wisdom of traditional ecological knowledge, and seeking to build a more sustainable, circular, green-blue economy.

A National Environmental Management Strategy (NEMS) for Kiribati
Anamua: Treasures of the Pacific Environment
Available Online
1993
This video provides an overview of Kiribati's efforts to develop and implement a comprehensive plan addressing the nation's environmental challenges. Given Kiribati's vulnerability to climate change impacts, such as sea-level rise and coastal erosion, the strategy emphasizes sustainable development, conservation of natural resources, and active community participation. The video highlights the collaborative process involving local communities, governmental bodies, and international partners in formulating this strategy, aiming to ensure a resilient and sustainable future for the nation.
