To ensure that funds are spent efficiently, effectively, economically and ethically, the Finance and Administration Department ensures that the processes involving identification of needs, selection and solicitation sources, preparation and award of contract including contract administration follows the SPREP procurement principles. This includes procurement activities undertaken by the SPREP programme teams. The Finance and Administration Department is responsible for the oversight of the Procurement function within SPREP. Additionally, ensuring that the Procurement Strategy is aligned to SPREP’s strategic objectives in order to make the organisation more competitive and optimise risk management.

The Regional Climate Watch is a guidance product designed for heightening National Meteorological and Hydrological Services awareness of an ongoing or high probability foreseen climate anomaly and its potential impacts on communities so that they can take appropriate action. This watch is disseminated to serve as a mechanism for initiating national preparedness activities and/or a series of events that affect decision-making.

La Niña continues in the tropical Pacific. The Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD) is expected to remain neutral until at least the end of autumn 2026. The IOD is typically inactive from December to April. The Bureau's model indicates that SSTs in the tropical Pacific are likely to return to a neutral El Niño–Southern Oscillation (ENSO) state in late summer, consistent with most international models. Neutral conditions are favoured through to at least late autumn
