L’analyse du régime de feu dans la haute vallée de la Kouaoua entre dans le cadre du projet démonstateur PEBACC+. Elle repose sur 108 images satellites de 2000 à 2023 autour des tribus de Konoyes-Shaoué, Ouérou-Pimé et Méchin. Les 1 014 feux recensés ont brûlé 3 281 hectares. The analysis of the fire regime in the upper Kouaoua Valley is part of the Pacific Ecosystem-based Adaptation to Climate Change (PEBACC+) plus project demonstration efforts. The analysis is based on 108 satellite images from 2000 to 2023 around the tribes of Konoyes-Shaoué, Ouérou-Pimé and Méchin. The 1,014 fires recorded burned 3,281 hectares of land.

PEBACC+ aims to strengthen the resilience of ecosystems, economies and people to the impacts of climate change. The Project will support the coastal protection of Ouvea (Loyalty Islands Province) the restoration of urban mangroves in Greater Noumea (South Province) and secure water provision in Kouaoua (North Province)

The Pacific Ecosystem-based Adaptation to Climate Change Plus/Phase 2 (PEBACC+) Project seeks to strengthen the resilience of ecosystems, economies, and communities to the impacts of climate change in Fiji, New Caledonia, Wallis-and-Futuna, Solomon Islands, and Vanuatu. The factsheet provides an overview of how the project will develop, sustain, and institutionalise ecosystem-based adaptation to climate change in these five countries and territories.
