Sustainable coastlines is providing in person training for communities and associations involved in the implementation of the SWAP Marine Litter Pilot Projects, to enable them to conduct statistically sound beach litter surveys and audits during clean-up activities, and to enable them to record this date using the Litter Intelligence online application for Marine Litter data sharing.

Chaque année, la quantité de déchets plastiques déversée dans les écosystèmes aquatiques représente entre 9 et 14 millions de tonnes et cette projection pourrait presque tripler pour atteindre 23 à 37 millions de tonnes par an d'ici 2040. Un rapport de la Fondation Ellen MacArthur estime qu’il y aurait maintenant plus de 150 millions de tonnes de plastique dans les océans à l’heure actu. Cela représente environ une tonne de plastique pour trois tonnes de poisson. Si la tendance se poursuit, la masse de plastique dans les océans dépassera celle des poissons d'ici 2050. Il résulte de cette situation des risques pour la santé humaine par ingestion de fruits de mer et de poissons contaminés par des plastiques. Il existe des solutions pour faire face à ce problème croissant, et la première action est de changer notre comportement. Faisons-le pour la Terre, faisons-le pour nos Enfants !

The frequency and intensity of natural disasters, especially tropical cyclones in the Pacific, have increased and when these natural disasters occur, large amounts of waste, known as disaster waste are generated from damage to both natural and man-made environment.
