Cook Islands Campaign to Cut Down Plastic Bag Pollution – Report to Second Session of UN Commission
Biodiversity Conservation, Waste Management and Pollution Control, Anamua: Treasures of the Pacific Environment
Available Online
Jagger, David
The Cook Islands are leading efforts to reduce plastic pollution, as reported to the second session of a UN commission on plastic waste. Since 2012, they’ve enforced single-use plastic bans and promoted zero-waste strategies. They joined 12 other Pacific nations in advocating for a strong, legally binding global plastics treaty. Domestically, the Cook Islands are drafting new laws to ban items like plastic straws and polystyrene containers and will introduce disposal fees to reduce waste. They also received $3 million in international funding to develop circular economy solutions such as reuse and eco-design.

PNG project use theater to promote ecological sustainable development
Biodiversity Conservation, Anamua: Treasures of the Pacific Environment

Jagger, David
Look at a PNG project for ecological sustainable development. If introducing rabbit species will bring more food to the people or more damage to the environment. An NZ company thats developing fridges that won't harm the earth's ozone layer, good news for the Pacific already copying plenty of the sun's powerful ray. This good produce could also contribute to less global warming. Solomon islands where world fund nature, is looking at logging for sustainable development.
