Data from the wave measurements programme by a Waverider buoy was combined with satellite altimetric data and island wind measurements to build up an image of the climatology of ocean waves in the Cook Islands which could be used to map the wave energy resource of the island in order to study the feasibility of developing wave power as a future energy source.
