Western Samoa : National Environment and Development Management Strategies (NEMS) / the National Environment Management Strategies Task Team

Abstract

There is a growing concern in Western Samoa over environmental issues, and a growing under- standing of the need for economic development to be properly planned in order to take environ- mental constraints into account. Such an integra- tion of environment and development is generally referred to as sustainable development. It is a new thrust in die pursuit of an acceptable and dignified level of social well-being, and the primary focus of global development efforts today.
