Training and fellowship requirements and facilities in the field of marine environment protection in the Escap Region

Protection of the marine environment and related ecosystems has been identified as a major problem among the littoral states of the Asia Pacific Region, the degradation and severity pf the problem varying from country to country. Effective protection and management is essential for the socio-economic well-being of the people in the region, particularly in view of increasing demand for food and energy on the one hand and decreasing productivity of land on the other.
