Tonga Fisheries Project : Project Design Document

The revised draft was subject to an independent technical review in Feb 2000 and in the light of these findings and to account for developments in Tonga fisheries in the intervening period, a final design mission was undertaken in Oct 2000. The present document is the product of that work. Tonga's fisheries sector currently faces problems in common with many Pacific Island nations a gradual but relentless overexploitation of inshore resources combined with degradation of the coastal environment.
