One World:Marine Turtle Protection/Arnavon Marine Conservation Area-Solomon Islands
Biodiversity Conservation
A 40 minute audio presentation by Carolyn Court focusing on conservation programmes established for the protection of Marine Turtles. With interviews from Colyn Lympus and Wes Ward, George Belau (Leader of Marine Turtle Research Programme of National Marine & Fisheries Service, Hawaii), and Moses Biliki and Singo Mahinti of the Solomon Islands Division of Environment & Conservation. Biliki & Mahinti comment on the establishment of a Marine Conservation Area, now known as the Arnavon Marine Conservation Project. Ed Mayer (Solomon Islands Field Representative for Nature Conservancy) believes the project to be a good model for other conservation projects around the Pacific.
