The purpose of the modules and activities in this guide are to provide teachers in the Pacific with a resource to help improve the quality of biodiversity education for students in the region. The goal of the resource is not to teach students what to think about biodiversity, hut to introduce them to ideas, themes and concepts about biodiversity and encourage the development of values, attitudes and skills to help them to make better decisions that affect biodiversity conservation.

This manual was designed for those who make policy and design programs that affect people and the environment. The staff of GreenCOM, the U.S. Agency for International Development's Environmental Education and Communication Project, have arranged the following chapters and case studies to share experiences, information, and models of working in education and communication.
