Pacific countries and territories are members of SPC and give SPC strategic guidance and operational priorities. We will present the way SPC is building and implementing projects in countries and territories respectful of our member's social, environmental and economic contexts.Concrete examples of the way we collaborate across our sectoral specialists to generate a dynamic interplay of capabilities, leading to creative approaches to development challenges Environmental degradation, climate change and disasters will be shown.

The Inform team will showcase the tools and processes developed and utilized by Pacific Islands countries in the implementation of the Inform project supporting national planning reporting and decision making needs.

The loss of nature is global ecological and economic catastrophe. As we have seen with the recent surge of hurricanes and typhoons, when nature's services we've long taken for granted begin to fall, it is poor communities that suffer most. Further, countless of people depend on the marine environment for their livelihoods. Thus addressing the decline of the health of our ocean should be a priority for all. In 2021, Parties of the UN Convention Biological Diversity (CBD) will agree to a set of next global biodiversity target through 2030, and one objective gaining momentum is the call for the protection and conservation of at least 30% of the global ocean over this decade (30x30).

Jamie Daves will introduce the PEUMP Programme and the By-catch and Integrated Ecosystem Management (BIEM) Initiative before introducing DR. Pilcher.After his presentation he will be joined by a panel of experts to secure their views on how the assessment can be improved and used to ensure that the assessment provides a strong foundation to strengthen national and regional conservation and management efforts to reduce extinction risk of these iconic species. This will be followed by a short Q&A session with D. Pilcher and panel members who will represent the Pacific government agency, national turtle monitoring network, turtle harvesting and sales researcher the Pacific Community (SPC) and National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)

This session will explore the power and necessity of Public sector partnerships in mobilizing much need resources to urgently address the global coral reef crisis that is threatening the lives of millions of people, especially vulnerable communities such as those found in the Pacific. By showcasing examples of ongoing and potential collaborative platforms being done through the Coral Reef Rescue initiative, the session aims to provide viable ways for governments, business & industry, civil society and science and academia to come together to build a global coral reef and community resilience for a climate-ready and sustainable future for people and nature.

This session are about some examples of how we are trying to tackle these issue4s followed by an opportunity ti share your own examples and discussion on practical ways to move forward.

The Pacific battle Lounge is a place for casual interviews with key experts and pacific practitioners on key invasive species issues ion the pacific. The Battler Lounge will be regular key collaboration initiative moving forward. This Lounge session will focus on the different methods of managing pigs in the Pacific, discuss how the needs for food resources can be balanced with taking care of the environment, and look deeper at the different values communities place on pigs.

Traditional way of life in the pacific islands in the expression of each and everybody's identity. The link between people and their natural habitat, living and unliving things is key to someone's social status, relationship to other member of its community and existence in the world. The session shall look at the importance of traditional knowledge and its relation to the environment as a way to protect existing biodiversity and thus ensuring that the cultural heritage of Pacific Island population i preserved. The issue of the modification of natural ecosystems, fauna and flora and hoe the traditions shall adapt to this situation if key to understanding the challenging the region will be facing in the coming years.

This session will bring together representatives from communities, governments and civil society to discuss their viewpoints, experiences and insights on defining conservation in the Pacific context, and what this means to a range of Indigenous Pacific People. Through a "talanoa" style panel discussion. The panel will share their thoughts and recommendations to strengthen local and indigenous-led conservation programming in the Pacific

The Pacific region is by far the largest in terms of surface and is characterized by coral reefs found only around oceanic islands making the region unique. The Pacific region includes more than 25,000 islands. The tropical Pacific region supports approximately 27% (about 66,000 km2) of the total global area of coral reefs. Coral reefs are in integral part of the Pacific culture and provide crucial food resources (25-100% of dietary protein) among many other socio-economic benefits
