The Pacific Ecosystem-based Adaptation to Climate Change Plus/Phase 2 (PEBACC+) Project seeks to strengthen the resilience of ecosystems, economies, and communities to the impacts of climate change in Fiji, New Caledonia, Wallis-and-Futuna, Solomon Islands, and Vanuatu. The PEBACC+ Project will develop, sustain, and institutionalise ecosystem-based adaptation (EbA) to climate change in these five countries and territories.

Ecosystem and socio-economic resilience analysis and mapping (ESRAM). The ESRAM process is to generate a robust planning baseline to inform the identification of EbA options for strengthening the socio-ecological resilience of selected areas to the impacts of climate change and direct anthropogenic impacts on ecosystems and socio-economy. EbA options will point to specify key climate change issues and specific sites for which impactful EbA projects can then be developed and implemented.

River catchment restoration are efforts to support the restoration of the Tagabe River and study the possibility of creating corridors for biodiversity. PEBACC+ Project will support tree planting, buffer zone creation, erosion and flood control, community awareness and mobilisation, waste management and governance. Special attention will be given to monitoring and maintenance of the trees planted.

Forest rehabilitation are efforts to restore tree cover and an important contributor to forest recovery. PEBACC+ peoject will support the collection and propagation of seedlings at Barana Community Nature and Heritage Park and put in place a silvicultural programme.
