Pacific Regional Invasive Species Management Support Service (PRISMSS) Newsletter - August 2021
SPREP Publications, Island and Ocean Ecosystems, BRB
Available Online
2021
Invasive Species are the leading driver of biodiversity loss in the Pacific. They have a significant impact on ecosystem resilience leading to a loss of ecosystem services and a reduced ability to adapt to climate change. PRISMSS aims to assist the Pacific in stepping up on-the-ground management of invasive species.

Use natural enemies to manage widespread weeds in the Pacific
SPREP Publications, Island and Ocean Ecosystems, BRB
Available Online
2020
We are a diverse bunch of people in the Pacific region, which spans about one third of the earth's surface and encompasses about half of the global sea surface. Natural enemies can be used to restore natural balance between weeds and the environment by introducing the enemies where they are needed.

Protect our islands with biosecurity

2020
Many invasive plants are successful by producing large numbers of seeds easily transported by wind, water and animals. However invasions are started almost exclusively through the actions of people.

Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) : Guidelines for Pacific Island countries and territories
SPREP Publications, Environmental Monitoring and Governance

2020
SEA by its nature, covers a wider range of activities. This is a key difference between EIA and SEA with the latter usually applied to a wider area and often over a longer time span than the EIS of projects.
