Solid waste management strategy for the Pacific

The current regional Marine Species Programme Framework (MSPF) 2003-2007 was endorsed by SPREP members in 2003 and subsequently commended by Forum Leaders in the same year. The MSPF 2003-2007 consists of Actions Plans for three groups of marine animals of special interest, whales and dolphins, sea turtles and dugongs.

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) uses the country environmental analysis (CEA) as the tool to assist with early incorporation of environmental considerations into the country strategy and programme (CSP) for its Developing Member Countries. The CEA provides targeted information necessary for informed decision making on environmental constraints, needs, and opportunities, including those that impinge upon poverty partnership agreements, as appropriate. The focus is on adding value to planned and ongoing development initiatives by reducing environmental constraints and exploiting environment- related opportunities.

This Mangrove Field Study Booklet is designed for upper primary students and is the first of its kind produced in Samoa. It was created by a team of primary, secondary and tertiary educators, the Curricula Development Unit (CDU) of the Ministry of Education, Sports and Culture and UNESCO. Advice and revisions were provided by the Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP) and the Ministry of Natural Resources, Environment and Meteorology (MNREM).
