Disposal of used oil as a diesel extender in power plants is not a universally acceptable practice in the Pacific due to warrantee conditions placed on new electricity generating equipment

GEFPAS focal points have been contacted to supply contemporary used oil information, and contracted missions have been completed to Pohnpei, RMI and Fiji, with additional missions also completed opportunistically to Kiribati, Vanuatu and Niue.

This report covers the visit to the Republic of the Marshall Islands (RMI) of March 4th to 11th 2018, as part of the consultancy engaged by SPREP under the Global Environment Facility's Pacific Assistance Strategy: Integrated Management of Solid and Hazardous Wastes and Persistent Organic Pollutants (GEFPAS uPOPS) project to update the situation in the RMI regarding their used oil stockpile.

This report covers the visit to Pohnpei of February 23rd to March 4th 2018, as part of the consultancy engaged by SPREP under the Global Environment Facility's Pacific Assistance Strategy: Integrated Management of Solid and Hazardous Wastes and Persistent Organic Pollutants (GEFPAS uPOPS) project to update the situation in Pohnpei, FSM regarding their used oil stockpile.

The Review first examines the evidence on the economic impacts of climate change itself, and explores the economics of stabilising greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. The second half of the Review considers the complex policy challenges involved in managing the transition to a low-carbon economy and in ensuring that societies can adapt to the consequences of climate change that can no longer be avoided.
